Health & Safety

We would emphasize the need for reasonable care in the handling of all ceramic and enamel colours due to the presence of compounds of lead, chromium, antimony etc.which are potentially poisonous. While many colours are quite harmless, the majority contain small quantities of one or more metal compounds which can be regarded as toxic. Among the precautions to be taken we would particularly recommend the following.

Do not introduce ceramic colours into the mouth- do not smoke or consume food while using the colours.

Do not use colours in a dusty conditions or in a place where there are strong draughts.

Handle the colours carefully in small quantities and store in closed containers.

Use suitable protective clothing.

Wash your hands thoroughly after using the colours.
